The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said that billionaire businessman and founder of Premier Lotto, Kessignton Adebutu is under its radar in an ongoing corruption investigation.
Detective from the anti-graft agency were reported to have detained and interrogated the businessman’s son, Segun Adebutu.
The agency said it is carrying out a complex investigation ranging from tax fraud to economic sabotage and that the billionaire’s amassed wealth over the years, is allegedly complicit in these crimes.
Reports have it that Premier Lotto’s main competitor – Western Lotto – was the whistleblower for EFFC about the alleged fraud and the agency was told to investigate Premier Lotto. The lottery company was accused of money laundry for billionaires of naira worth of lost government revenue.
Officials of the EFCC however confirmed to have traced the sum of N5 million to the company since the investigation began.
