JUMIA MAKES INROAD INTO PIZZA MARKET, PARTNERS PIZZA HUT
Jumia Food recently announced a partnership with Lagos-based Pizza Hut and will soon launch an on-demand pizza delivery with the firm.
What the partnership intends to achieve : According to the Managing Director of Jumia Food, Guy Futi, the partnership is expected to boost operational performance and last mile delivery in Nigeria. Speaking during a press conference at Pizza Hut in Ikoyi, Lagos, Mr Futi said the following:
“As the premier food delivery business in Nigeria, we are opening up our platform to enable our customers to order pizza from Pizza Hut while ensuring that it is delivered at record time.
“Currently, our average delivery time is less than 45 minutes which is the quickest in Nigeria. We are reinforcing our operations to further cut our average delivery time to guarantee that both food and pizza are delivered at best times to our customers while not compromising quality.”
Another reason for the partnership is to break into the Nigerian market: According to Tony Ozanne, the Chief Executive Officer of Marathon Restaurant Africa which operates Pizza Hut in Nigeria, a market research revealed to them that Jumia Food can be of immense assistance in this regard. This is because Jumia Food has an upper hand in the food delivery space. a
