Motorcycle riders in Katsina will have their business halted by 7pm according to a statement by the State government.

The Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Alhaji Ahmed El-Marzuq gave this verdict after Governor Bello Masari had assented the bill to the ban.

El-Marzuq explained that the law which will be effective from January 20, 2020 only exempts members of the law enforcement agency such as the Military, Police, Civil defense, Road safety Corps, Immigration, Customs and NDLEA.

He also said the law was passed as a response to the incessant kidnappings in the state by bandits who use tricycles and motorcycles in their operation.

The Attorney General announced that violators and offenders of this law will be up for a one-year jail term with an option of fine or both.
