The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy has come out to declare that no company has license to operate motorcycle(s) business in the state.
He said this in response to the questions about the recent decision by the State Government to ban motorbikes in 15 local government areas in the state.
Omotosho noted that the government’s decision was a bid to curtail the activities of branded motorcycle business operators. He said it is to regulate the excesses associated with the bike-hailing companies.
The commissioner also said the decision was taken as an urgent response to the alarming rate of accidents caused by motorbikes with stat reports from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital a major indicator to this.
He, however, said that the ban will not affect courier services, as they do not covey human beings but goods and products. He claimed that many of the poor masses are in support of the ban.
