The 2020 budget of Niger State has been altered by the State House of Assembly, who passed into law an increase of N7.2 billion on the budget. This means the state 2020 budget stands at N155,459,814,700.82 as against N148,211,549.82, presented by the Governor, Abubakar Sanni Bello.
The state governor had earlier presented an appropriation bill of N148.2111 billion, but the assembly received a report of its appropriation committee to alter the budget before it was passed into law.
The Speaker, Logoma, explained that the budget was increased to meet up with certain contingencies, and also to reflect the newest government policies like the 7.5% VAT rate.
The Deputy Speaker however said the committee observed that the submission of the budget was late and it had to be hasty in its scrutiny to ensure speedy passage.
