Nigeria appears to be among the nations delaying the implementation of the ECOWAS single currency “Eco”.
The implementation is set to be rolled out in 2020 but few countries haven’t met the required criteria by the member states.
The minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama revealed that Nigeria is not yet ready for the implementation of the ECOWAS Single Currency “Eco” in 2020.
According to her, “the majority of the countries understand that we are not quite ready, but it a process”.
Onyeama also highlighted some key factors about French speaking nations who would have to disfranchise their financial dependence and synergy from Euro.
She said that everything is being undertaken by sovereign countries exercising their sovereign wealth. ffff
