The World Health Organization has declared the deadly coronavirus as an international public health emergency.
WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebereyesus said the reason for the public declaration is not because of the happenings in China, but because of the occurrence in other countries.
‘Our greatest concern is the potential for the virus to spread to countries with weaker health systems, and which are ill-prepared to deal with it.’
The Organization who had earlier called a public declaration as ‘too early’ said it had to make the call-to-action to help countries to prepare better against further spread of the virus.
The coronavirus has claimed the lives of about 213 people in China with 9,692 others infected.
